Our Statement of Purpose

E are members, elders, and clergy of the

Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) who are loving and supportive

parents of gay sons and lesbian daughters.

E are joined in ministry by members, elders, and clergy of

the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), and by parents of gay and lesbian children

within other faith communities, who walk with us on our journey.

  OGETHER we ---

. . . struggle with the issue of homosexuality

. . . suffer because our children experience pain and rejection

. . . fear for the physical and emotional safety of our daughters and sons

. . . deplore the prejudice and discrimination that exists throughout our society, as well as within the church

. . . feel isolated by the cloak of silence that separates us from one another within the church

. . . long for the understanding and compassion within our congregational families

E invite all Presbyterian parents of gays and lesbians, and parents of gays and lesbians

within other faith communities, to join together in ---

. . . encouraging one another through small groups

. . . sharing our stories in a caring atmosphere

. . . creating an environment where we can hear and be heard.

E also invite other Presbyterians to support us by ---

. . . praying for us, our children and our church

. . . telling Presbyterian parents of lesbians and gays about us

. . . working with us in providing pastoral care to families of gays and lesbians.

RUSTING in God's grace, we look forward to the fulfillment of our vision of a church

that will joyfully accept and embrace all God's children.
